Craig Santos Perez is a Pacific Islander author from Guam. He is the author of five books of poetry and the co-editor of six anthologies. He is a professor in the English Department at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
By disjointing acts of listening from the ear and its particular arrangement of time, Sonic Continuum proposes a shift from representation to expression and asks: can sound restitute failures to listen? How might we listen to time affectively? What auditory imaginaries and possible futures can listening unfold?
These poems, written during the COVID-19 pandemic, explore themes of contagion, care, mutual aid and grief.
